Mike White

Born in Chivu (Zimbabwe) in 1956. Schooled in Masvingo before attending the Durban Technicon and University of Natal, where he studied Fine Arts. Has lived in Cape Town and worked, variously, as an artist, craftsman and lecturer. Currently lives in Harare, lectures at the Polytechnic and paints extensively on-site in Nyanga.

Has exhibited widely, including the National Gallery's of Namibia (2000), Mauritius and Harare. Recent show sold out in Johannesburg (2006).

He paints landscapes "...simply because it's part of my soul, the process makes me feel whole. Each time I stand in the landscape with a fresh canvas in front of me I'm overcome by the beauty of the world. I paint to no formula, no known outcome. I deliberately avoid a slickness, even a method..." His style is gaining recognition and his works are hanging in many local and foreign collections.
