Di Wright
Born Salisbury (Harare) 1948. Studied under Adele Walters at Bulawayo Tech and did three years at Croydon College of Art in London.
Started out as an art restorer before doing her own work. Successful shows at Gallery Delta et al led to her work being in many collections, notable of which are the Bank of Botswana, Museum of Modern Women Art in Washington DC and, of course, the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe. Reclusive, she paints in oils on foundation board with an ardour for esoteric, animistic scenes that are always painted from life. She is a much sought-after artist who properly deserves to be up there with the best of Zimbabwe fine art.
